Auchengray Primary School serves the rural communities of Woolfords, Auchengray, Tarbrax and the surrounding areas. It is a non-denominational primary school, which provides education from P1–P7 with children then transferring to Biggar High School for S1. The current role is 17 pupils taught in one multi-composite class. The pupils are taught by our Principal Teacher, Ms Wright and Mrs Murphy who provides cover for Non-contact Time and Management Time. Mrs Ross is our learning support teacher who visits school on a regular basis to give advice. We also have a number of visiting coaches for sports and music activities throughout the session. Mrs Carrillo, Mrs Alexander and Mrs Habasque are our support staff team; they provide both clerical and classroom support.

The original school was built in 1870. As part of South Lanarkshire's Schools Modernisation Programme a new building was constructed in 2015 and opened to pupils on 8th January 2016. It comprises one classroom, one break out area and a hall which is used as a canteen and for PE, assemblies and events. Meals are prepared, cooked and served on the premises by our cook, Mrs Yule. Mrs Dick is our cleaner/caretaker; she meets the pupils off the buses in the morning and escorts them out to the buses again in the afternoon.

Outside we have a playground, multi-use games area (MUGA) and a grassy area which can be used during the year to enhance outdoor learning. We make full use of our local area and the facilities it offers to enhance the curriculum for our pupils. We have very good links established with other agencies and we work closely with them to Get It Right for Every Child. The school continues to foster well-established links in our wider rural community.

All pupils are encouraged to wear school uniform. The uniform consists of grey trousers/ skirt or dress, a sky blue school polo shirt and blue school sweatshirt. Uniforms can be ordered through the school office prior to the start of each school session. Homework bags are also available to order at the same time. A small supply of additional uniform items are kept in school should you require them during the course of the year, however, we cannot guarantee to have all sizes in stock.

Pupils are also asked to bring gym shoes for wearing indoors. Gym kit should be provided in a suitable bag which is kept in school; this should include shorts, a T-shirt and change of socks.

As we encourage pupils to make the most of opportunities for outdoor play and other learning experiences within our school grounds; they should come prepared to be outside, with jacket/ coat and suitable footwear for the weather conditions of that day.

There are forms of dress which are unacceptable in all schools, such as:
the wearing of football colours, clothing with slogans that may cause offence. clothing which advertises alcohol, tobacco or drugs.

We ask all parents to support the school by adhering to the agreed dress code.

Parents/Carers can opt out of having their child's photo appear on the website. Should you wish to opt out please contact the school directly and let us know. We have an exclusion list in the school office for any children who do not have permission to be included on the website.  As a rule it is our policy that children who are featured on the website will not have their photo and full name appear together.
